Our Story
Developed over almost a decade in one of New Zealand’s leading natural health practices, the Primal Herbaria range has been formulated using extensive traditional evidence, as well as through the successful treatment of thousands of people with a variety of skin conditions, people just like you.
In 2007 we created our first commercial skincare formulation (DermaCare) to help patients with eczema and other immune mediated skin conditions. From there, over the years we’ve extended our range to help our patients manage an increasing range of skin issues.

I’m Craig Rhodes (BHsci, Mmgt) – Founder of Primal Herbaria.
Having spent almost 2 decades working in healthcare, including running 2 of New Zealand most successful natural health clinics – initially in general practice before setting up a specialist allergy and eczema clinic in central Auckland, I’m proud and excited to be finally be bringing Primal Herbaria to the world.
As well as working in clinical practice – helping people like you resolve your skin conditions, I spent almost a decade on the National Committee of the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists including time as NZAMH President.
I’ve also spent a bunch of time teaching practice management in a number of New Zealand leading Natural Medicine and traditional Chinese Medicine colleges as well as helping practitioners run successful practices, and make a difference, in the real world.
Finally I’ve also worked in natural health product development, internationally in medicinal licensing and healthcare regulatory affairs.
Now, with Primal Herbaria I’m bringing it all together with our range of natural skincare remedies, developed and tested in clinical practice and tried and tested on people with real skin issues – people just like you.
